TECHNICAL DATASHEET
HYREZ PRIMER
Polyurethane Floor Screed Primer
HYREZ PRIMER is a trowel applied polyurethane floor screed primer for medium to heavy duty industrial use. Using the same resin technology as the HYREZ screeds, it gives continuity with the high chemical, abrasion, and impact resistance, with a good bond onto concrete substrates. For use in environments that range from cold rooms to boiler rooms, warehousing to shop floors that require a HYREZ primer prior to application of HYREZ screeds.
TYPICAL APPLICATION
HYREZ PRIMER can be used as a primer prior to HYREZ screed installations in food processing plants, cold rooms, canning factories, bottling plants, high foot traffic areas and environments where food safety and medium to heavy industrial use are both prerequisites.
ADVANTAGES
• Economical
• High early strength
• High chemical resistance
• High impact resistance
• High density
• Nonhazardous (food safe)
• Seamless
• Flow applied for rapid installation
• Low maintenance
• Excellent bond to concrete
Silver Ion Technology
For HACCP environments, the inclusion of Silver Ion Technology gives the polyurethane screed permanent bactericidal properties. Only included on request.
WATCH POINTS
• While HYREZ screeds are chemically resistant, they can still stain and a sealer coat is recommended in areas where concentrated dyes, or foods or chemicals with staining history are exposed to the screeds for long periods of time.
• A formal hygienic cleaning procedure is required to keep the surfaces hygienically clean and food safe.
• HYREZ screeds are not UV stable and will yellow under bright lighting and sunlight.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Application Conditions:
Application temperature should be between 15C and 25C. Employ the use of localized cooling or heating equipment if necessary. Try avoid applying over hot surfaces or previously heated areas. Substrates must have a moisture content of 12% maximum and tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm2 minimum.
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces need to be cleaned and flattened or imperfects will show through flow applied applications. Light grinding to remove all surface defects is recommended. Scabbling and acid etching is not recommended. If the substrate is porous or there is expected to be pin hole issues or moisture concerns, a application of HYREZ PRIMER is used. Anchor grooves are to be cut at twice the thickness of the floor finish to a maximum of 10mm. Anchor grooves are to be cut around the floor perimeter, parallel to expansion joints, around upright structures, around drains, parallel to door thresholds, and at regular 3 meter spacing across the floor surface.
Priming:
Use a coat of HYREZ PRIMER to prime the floor surface, making sure to fill anchor grooves. Ensure even coverage using a mohair roller or skim with a trowel until the surface is completely wetted out. Apply in anchor grooves with a brush if air displacement is problematic. Allow to cure for 12 hours and if soft patches persist, a second application of primer is required. Allow to cure for a further 12 hours and check all has set hard. If the primer is left for longer than 48 hours, the primer will need to be abraded and a further coat of HYREZ PRIMER to ensure chemical bond to the final screed topping.
Application:
Shake well the resin component to resuspend all the ingredients in the liquid. In a pot mixer, premix the resin and the hardener until mixed together. While mixing, add in the powder aggregate gradually until all wetted out and lump free. Then transfer the mix onto the prepared surface.
