TECHNICAL DATASHEET
CONCRETE SURFACE DRESSING
Decorative Concrete Surface Dressing
CONCRETE SURFACE DRESSING is a two-component pre-blend of cementitious and proprietary powder incorporating a liquid polymer blend to give an attractive, cementitious and decorative coating. Available in off-shutter grey: –
CONCRETE SURFACE DRESSING 7/3 KIT
and light grey: –
CONCRETE SURFACE DRESSING 5/5 KIT
TYPICAL APPLICATION
A concrete coating approved and used by Local Government Departments and other bodies. Designed for use on clean, sound concrete and masonry structures such as buildings, bridges, railway viaducts, New Jersey barriers, curbs, etc. to give a durable and decorative coating.
ADVANTAGES
• Provides a natural cementitious finish
• Blend of powders and acrylic binders provide an excellent bond
• Highly durable, long-lasting protection
• Provides concrete with a uniform decorative coating
• Non-dusting
• Good weathering properties
• U.V. resistant
WATCH POINTS
• Do not re-constitute the mix after initial setting has occurred.
• Do not apply in excess of 1mm thickness
• Colour of the dressing surface on setting may be affected by shutter oils from the concrete on which it is applied
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces are to be clean, sound and free of deleterious substances. Remove all laitance, oil, grease, mould oil or curing compound from concrete surfaces using wire brush, bush hammer, scabbler or other plant as appropriate. When repairing damaged concrete, ensure that all loose concrete has removed down to a firm base. Repair with PLAST 1038 mortar repair. Cracks are to be repaired and filled.
Priming:
Dampen surfaces and keep damp for one hour prior to application, particularly if the surface is porous. This Will prevent rapid drying out of the dressing before initial set has taken place.
Application:
Empty CONCRETE SURFACE DRESSING powder into a clean container and add the 5Lt of SCREED PRIMER and 6 litres of clean water and mix to a smooth uniform consistency. To ensure thorough mixing, the use of a slow speed electric drill with suitable stirrer is recommended. Mix for 3 minutes or until the mix is lump free. Apply by roller, brush or soft hair paint brush working the coat into the surface, particularly if porous, to ensure a good bond. Always apply two coats to ensure uniformity, full coverage and durability. The second coat should be applied within 24 hours and at right angles to the first coat. A light dampening of the surface 24 hours after application will improve strength development within the coating.
