Multi LOCKCOAT
Roll-on Polyurethane Coating
MULTI LOCKCOAT is a roller applied polyurethane floor coating for light industrial use. Highly chemical resistant, with slight flexibility, to give a smooth, matt finish whilst still allowing hygienic cleanliness and seamless flooring. Supplied in a variety of colours for use in environments that range from back of house to wash bays, office to walkways, and light processing areas. Organohalogene tested and approved by Thales as part of the MULTI PU SCREED range of polyurethanes.
Typical Applications
MULTI LOCKCOAT can be used in food processing plants, cold rooms, canning factories, bottling plants, foot traffic areas and environments where food safety, high chemical resistance, wet areas, and light industrial use are all prerequisites.

Watch Points
- While polyurethane screeds are chemically resistant, they can still stain and a sealer coat is recommended in areas where concentrated dyes, or foods or chemicals with staining history are exposed to the screeds for long periods of time.
- A formal hygienic cleaning procedure is required to keep the surfaces hygienically clean and food safe.
- Polyurethane screeds are not UV stable and will yellow under bright lighting and sunlight.
Directions for Use
Application Conditions: Application temperature should be between 15C and 25C. Employ the use of localized cooling or heating equipment if necessary. Try avoid applying over hot surfaces or previously heated areas. Substrates must have a moisture content of 12% maximum and tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm2 minimum.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces need to be cleaned and flattened or imperfects will show through flow applied applications. Light grinding to remove all surface defects is recommended. Scabbling and acid etching is not recommended. Anchor grooves are not necessary for MULTI LOCKCOAT.
Priming: Prime with MULTI POXY PRIMER using a trowel and allow to cure for 12 hours to minimize draw in of the MULTI LOCKCOAT into the substrate and prevent pin-holing. Alternatively use the first coat of MULTI LOCKCOAT as a primer coat, especially if the underlying substrate is a different colour altogether or if there are any moisture concerns within the substrate.
Application: Shake well the resin component to resuspend all the pigments in the liquid. In a bucket, premix the resin and the hardener until mixed together. While mixing, add in the powder aggregate gradually until the desired thickness, then mix until all wetted out and lump free. Then transfer the mix into a roller pan or flat bottom half drum. Using a mohair roller, dip into the pan and roll evenly over the prepared surface. Roll out onto vertical surfaces with a mohair roller being careful not to create tear drops. Only mix enough product that can be applied within 12-15 minutes. Allow to cure for 12 hours. Protect the curing floor from damp, condensation, and direct water for at least 24 hours.
Limitations: Do not apply in humidity is expected to be greater than 90% RH, or if the surface temperature is less than 3C above the dew point. Ensure that the curing temperature never drops below 5C, and do not apply over concrete that is less than 25 MPa compressive strength. Colour variations can occur between batches so apply sections from the same batch of resin. Touching up will always be visible and should be avoided. If colour variations occur, overcoat the entire surface with MULTI LOCKCOAT coating. To guard against discoloration from contact with strong oxidizing agents such as halogens, seal with MULTI UV SEALER clear matt. Direct contact with rubber or bituminous type materials will leave black marks within the first month of use as the MULTI LOCKCOAT is still actively curing.
Equipment Care
All tools should be cleaned with thinners or xylene immediately after use.
