Watch Points
- Do not re-constitute the mix after initial setting has occurred.
- Do not add more water to the supplied liquid as this will cause cracking
- Do not apply more than 2mm thick as this will cause cracking
- Dark substrates will show through light colours of the MULTI MARBLE SKIM applied. First lighten up the substrate if this is to be prevented.
Directions for Use
Surface Preparation:
Surfaces are to be clean, sound and free of deleterious substances. Remove all laitance, oil, grease, mould oil or curing compound from concrete surfaces using wire brush, bush hammer, scabbler or other plant as appropriate. When repairing damaged concrete, ensure that all loose concrete has removed down to a firm base. Porous substrates should first be primed with MULTI SCREED PRIMER.
Priming:
Prime floors with MULTI SCREED PRIMER. Allow for penetration into the substrate and remove any excess pooling of primer. MULTI MARBLE SKIM can then be applied over the tacky primer but no later than 2 hours after drying of the primer. Do not apply over wet pooled primer as this will create runs in the screed and surface discolouration.
Application:
Premix the 5Lts supplied liquid polymer colour concentrate with 5Kg base in a 25Lt bucket or suitable drum using a mechanical mixer until all lumps have broken up. Using a steel trowel, skim over the primed surface 1-2mm thick and work out trowel lines as much as possible. You may on the first coat still see transfer of colour from the substrate below. Allow to set up to 4 hours (or when hard to touch) then lightly sand off high points with 120 grit paper. Apply a second skim coat to obtain a solid colour over the substrate and hide any remaining transfer patches still visible from below. Allow up to four hours set (or when hard to touch) and sand off high points with 120 grit paper. If necessary, a 3rd coat may be needed if the underlying substrate has a high contract in colour to the MULTI SKIM COAT colour applied.
Sealing:
After sanding off high points and any polymer residues off the surface of the MULTI SKIM COAT, apply a coat of MULTI COLOUR RETAINER to retain the colour of the screed. Once dry, apply 2 coats of MULTI UV SEALER for a satin or gloss finish. Alternatively apply 2-3 coats of MULTI PU SEALER for a luxurious matt finish. Allow 3 days after sealing before exposure to heavy traffic or prolonged exposure to water.
Equipment Care
All tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use. If delayed, equipment will need mechanical action to clean or be discarded.
